This revision includes new knowledge and skills, some of which are required, and others that are Optional Skills that a local EMS Agency (LEMSA) may establish for local accreditation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Starting 7\/1\/2019<\/strong>, an EMT renewing his or her certification shall submit documentation of successful completion of the following training by an approved EMT training program or approved CE provider:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The use and administration of naloxone or other opioid antagonist that meets the standards and requirements of Title 22, Division 9, Chapter 2, \u00a7100075(c).<\/li><li>The use and administration of epinephrine by auto-injector that meets the standards and requirements Title 22, Division 9, Chapter 2, \u00a7100075(d).<\/li><li>The use of a glucometer that meets the standards and requirements of Title 22, Division 9, Chapter 2, \u00a7100075(e).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The entire EMT Scope of Practice 2017 Update includes a total of 16 hours of training. Safety Unlimited, Inc.
