It\u2019s\nestimated that more vaccines will become available in the coming months. Dr.\nFauci, the nation\u2019s senior official for infectious disease, states, \u201cWe would\nneed 50% of the American population to be vaccinated to see an impact. 75% to\n85% to have herd immunity.\u201d The question you may ask yourself as an EMS\nprovider is: How does this affect me? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>EMS providers were in the first\nphase of vaccination. You may have already received your vaccine, but with\n164.1 million Americans who need to be vaccinated in order to reach an\nimpactful state, this has become an all-hands-on-deck situation. EMS\nprofessionals nationwide are aiding in the goal of getting America vaccinated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yet, this may spark more questions,\nsuch as: Where can I find additional information and training?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On February 7, 2021, the NHTSA\nOffice of EMS released a training resource titled \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ems.gov\/pdf\/Just_In_Time_Training_EMT_Vaccination_Programs.pdf\">Just\nin Time<\/a>.\u201d This document provides training resources to the EMS professional\non how to administer the COVID-19 vaccine. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The list of resources include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>COVID-19 Vaccine Training for EMT;<\/li><li>An Intramuscular Injection skill checklist;<\/li><li>A training video on COVID-19 vaccine\nadministration; and<\/li><li>An EMS Vaccine Administration Program manual. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>It is encouraged, to view the\nabove resources if you are asked to participate in the vaccination program.<\/p>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On average, there are approximately 1 million COVID-19 vaccines being administered daily.
