The HERO Research Program

The HERO (Healthcare Worker Exposure Response and Outcomes) Research Program is a community of people working in the healthcare industry who share what it is like to work and live during the COVID-19 pandemic, and allow participants to participate in research projects on COVID-19.

The Registry recently launched a study known as HERO-TOGETHER to understand the long-term outcomes of COVID-19 vaccination and is looking for participants willing to help provide data on long-term vaccine safety. Participants in the study will be asked about side effects and changes in health since vaccination and may be compensated up to $200 for their time. This program is operated separately from the V-Safe program from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and is meant to compliment rather than replace this program.

In order to be eligible to join the HERO Registry and participate in the study, you must be at least 18 years old and working in a healthcare setting. This includes workers who provide direct patient care (such as doctors, nurses, and therapists), as well as workers who provide services such as housekeeping, food service, and maintenance in a healthcare setting.

Further information about the HERO program and HERO-TOGETHER may be found at http://www.heroesresearch.org. Additionally, the HERO-TOGETHER study has provided a website (known as the Together Toolkit) with premade flyers, formatted emails, and other literature to help spread the word about the program. For example, a premade card is available that can be handed to newly vaccinated healthcare providers with information on how to sign up for the program.
